Info about our library..
The Valley of the Teton's Library was officially opened Wednesday April 20, 1966.
The Library was a project of the Chambermaids, a women's auxillary of the Victor Chamber of Commerce. This was a great event that had recquired many hours of dedication and volunteer work.
"The first library was a little building in the back of the Egbert Drug store. The demensions were 9' x 16'! It had no windows ... only a door. The Egberts donated the use of this building until the board was in a position to build. The Walter McBrides donated a little butane stove. The men of the area came in and built shelves. The women cleaned the building, the area around the building and planted flowers to "spruce it up". " Books came from the community and libraries in the surrounding area. Within a week of opening the little building was bursting at the seams, having 7,000 books on it's shelves.
